First Day
Welcome at CANCUN International Airport. Transfer to
the Mayaland Hotel at CHICHEN ITZA, located in the
very heart of the archaeological site. Dinner and
overnight at the Mayaland Hotel

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF CHICHEN ITZA
We will start the day with breakfast at the Mayaland
Hotel. After it, we will start a guided tour of the
site which begins in the Great Plaza, the heart of
Chichen Itza, visiting the Ball Game Court, The
Temple of Jaguars, The Famous Temple (Pyramid) of
God Kukulcán, The Tzompantli Platform, The Temple of
the Warriors and the Temple of the One Thousand
columns. Then we will visit the Sacred Cenote, the
Mayan Observatory and the set of buildings
constructed during the Classic period which includes
the Nunnery, La Iglesia and Akab Dzib.

Lunch will be served
at Mayaland. Enjoy the afternoon relaxing by the
pool or taking an additional horseback riding Tour.
You can also stroll through our beautiful gardens
and watch the birds. The Yucatan boasts more species
that the United States and Canada combined.
In the evening we will attend the Light and Sound
Show staged nightly at the archaeological site. A
play of light on the ancient buildings and tales of
warlike rulers, priests and Mayan gods weave their
spell will take place. You will leave Chichen Itza
enchanted. Dinner will be served in Mayaland. |

Third Day
EK BALAM – RIO LAGARTOS PINK FLAMINGO RESERVE
After breakfast, we will depart to the northern coast of the Yucatán
Peninsula until we reach RIO LAGARTOS. Before that, we will visit the
magnificent site of EK BALAM along the way. This is one of the most
magnificent and mysterious cities ever discovered. Its main Temple
features a Jaw of Jaguar with delicate stucco relieve recently
discovered with feathered sculptures.
This could be considered as one of the
entrances to the Underground world. At arriving to Rio Lagartos, we will
take a wonderful boat ride through the mangroves to visit the feeding
ground of the beautiful pink flamingoes. A box lunch will be provided.
Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure overnight at the Hotel.
Fourth Day
CHICHEN ITZA-IZAMAL-MERIDA-UXMAL
After breakfast, we will depart from the Mayaland Hotel for MERIDA
calling at the colonial city of IZAMAL on the way, where we will visit
the Convent of san Francisco de Padua, the Park, the regional Market and
the impressive Pyramid of Kinich Kakmo located in the downtown.
Upon arrival in MERIDA, we will take a walking tour of the city center
visiting the Zócalo or Main Square, site of the stately Cathedral, the
Casa de Montejo, a the 16th century home of the Montejo family, the City
Hall and Government House. After that, we will have a walking tour to
the city market for a spot of craft shopping.
Lunch is served at a typical Mexican restaurant where you will a sample
authentic Mexican cuisine and listen to the serenades of strolling
mariachi players. We continue our walking tour to the church of the
Tercera Orden, the Peon Contreras Theater and the 17th century building:
see of the University of the Yucatan.
We will then board a traditional horse-drawn carriage or “Calesa” for a
ride to Paseo Montejo and a visit to the Regional Museum.
At the end of this visit, a motor coach tour around the Monument to the
Nation and past the chateau-style homes on Paseo Montejo and Avenida
Colon concludes our city tour. After our visit, we continue to UXMAL,
and checking in and dinner at the HOTEL HACIENDA UXMAL or THE LODGE AT
UXMAL.
Fifth Day
ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF UXMAL
Breakfast at “The Lodge at Uxmal” or “Hacienda Uxmal”, we will walk to
the Archaeological site of UXMAL for a guided tour that includes the
oval-shaped Magician's Pyramid; the Nun's Quadrangle with its
magnificent friezes depicting the Mayan rain god; the beautiful Palace
of the Governor and the impressive Great Pyramid.
Free afternoon for relaxing at the hotel where you can swim in our
beautiful sparkling swimming pools or play tennis.
In the evening you are invited to attend the Uxmal Light and Sound Show,
staged nightly in the Nun's Quadrangle, Uxmal's central plaza, the
music, dialogue and illumination take place in a magnificent setting and
the event is an unforgettable introduction to the history and legends of
the ancient city and the magnificent “Puuc” Mayan culture. Dinner and
overnight at “THE LODGE AT UXMAL” or “HACIENDA UXMAL”
Sixth Day
TOWN OF BECAL AND CITY OF CAMPECHE
Breakfast will be served at the hotel and after it; we will take you to
the village of Becal famous for the Panama hats made by women who work
in caves to preserve the quality of the palm fronds. Afterwards we shall
precede to the city of Campeche once a fortified Pirate haven. Here we
will do a city tour and enjoy a delicious seafood lunch restaurant.
Dinner and overnight at The Lodge “HACIENDA UXMAL” o “THE LODGE AT UXMAL”
Seventh Day
UXMAL-KABAH-SAYIL-TICUL-LABNA-LOLTUN-OXCUTZCAB
Depart from “The Lodge at Uxmal” or “Hacienda Uxmal” after breakfast.
First stop is KABAH where you'll see the Codz pop, a palace famous for
its facade of 250 Chac masks and statues of ancient rulers of the site,
the Palace and the Arch of Kabah which marks the entrance to the “Sacbé”
or linking path between Kabah with Uxmal.
After that visit, we will visit SAYIL, a very unique Site in the Maya
World for its gracious three-tiered palace: a labyrinth of 70 rooms
adorned with columns and beautiful rock carved Chac masks.
LABNA is the final site on the Puuc Route and one of the loveliest. It's
dominated by the famous Labna Arch; other buildings of note are the
Palace and El Mirador of impressive decoration.
It's short drive to the town of TICUL and a visit to a local pottery.
Watch the potters turn out anything from to reproductions of ancient
Mayan figurines and vases.
A box lunch will be provided along the way.
After lunch, we will explore the LOLTUN Caves where a guide will take
you through the huge caves considered as a Shelter and related to the
Mayan Underground. Our next stop is the market town of OXKUTZCAB, the
heart
of southern Mexico's most important tropical fruit, citrus and vegetable
growing area. We will visit the fine church and convent which dominates
the main square. We continue to TEKAX, a community steeped in history
and tradition. Its 17th century church, ruined convent and fortress-like
chapel are silent testimony to a turbulent past: Mayan revolts against
Spanish rule and a siege during the Castle War. Dinner and overnight at
HACIENDA UXMAL o THE LODGE AT UXMAL.
Eight Day
UXMAL-TULUM-CANCÚN or RIVIERA MAYA
We will departure from the “HACIENDA UXMAL” or “THE LODGE AT UXMAL”
after breakfast to the Archaeological Site of TULUM, located near the
Caribbean coast with an impressive view.
In the afternoon, we will transfer you to your chosen hotel in CANCÚN,
PLAYA DEL CARMEN or the RIVIERA MAYA.. |
