THE
MAYAN WORLD : MEXICO - GUATEMALA - BELIZE
Day 1° Cancun
Arrival to Cancún airport and transfer to the
hotel zone. Overnight.
Day 2° Cancún - Chichen-Itza´- Merida
Departure to Chichen-Itzá by air conditioned bus and
guide. After visiting Chichen-Itzá the journey will
coninue to Merida, the capital of the Yucatan State.
Overnight.
Day 3° Merida - Uxmal - Campeche |

Departure from Merida to visit the ruins at
Uxmal. Late afternoon arrival in Campeche. Overinght.
Day 4° Campeche - Palenque
Departure to Palenque and upon arrival visit of this
beautiful archeological zone. Overnight.
Day 5° Palenque - Agua Azul - San Cristóbal de
las Casas
From Palenque we will proceed to the wonderfull Agua
Azul waterfalls where we will stop for a bath in the
water of this place. The journey continues to San
Cristóbal de las Casas. Overnight. |

Day 6° San
Cristóbal - San Juan Chamula - Zinacantán - San
Cristóbal
Free morning to walk through the cobblestone streets
of San Cristóbal or to make an optional trip to
visit the famous Sumidero Canyon. In the afternon
visit the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula
and Zinacantán. Overnight.
Day 7° San Cristóbal - Lake Atitlan
Around midday we will cross the border between
Mexico and Guatemala. Change of bus and guide. The
trip will then continue towards Lake Atitlan.

Day 8° Lake Atitlan - Chichicastenango –
Lake Atitlan
Departure from Atitlan to visit the community of Quiche at
Chichicastenango where market days are thursdays and sundays. After the
mrket return to Atitlan. Overnight.
Day 9° Lake Atitlan - Santiago - La Antigua
Boat trip (public boat) to the Tzutuhil village of Santiago. Bright
colours and ancient designs can be seen on the indigenous typical
clothing proudly worn by these highland inhabitants. Return to
Panajachel to continue the journey to Antigua. Overnight.
Day 10° Antigua
Free day. Optional tour to visit the Cathedral, the Townhall, La Merced,
San Francisco, Las Capuchinas, and other monuments. Overnight.
Day 11° Antigua - Quirigua - Livington
Departure from Antigua towards the Guatemalan Caribbean. Along the
road visit the archeological site of Quirigua, where some of the best
Mundo Maya stelas are found. After the visit continue to Puerto Barrios,
where a boat (publci boat) is taken to Livingston, an afro-caribbean
village. Overnight.
Day 12° Livingston - Rio Dulce - Flores
Early in the morning a boat trip (public boat) is made through Rio
Dulce, an exceptional ecological paradise. At the end of the river a bus
will be waiting to continue to Flores. Overnight.
Day 13° Flores - Tikal - Belize
Morning visit of Tikal, undoubtedly the best example of classical Mayan
culture. Visit of the central plaza, the Great Jaguar temple, the lost
world or Temple IV. After the visit departure from Guatemala through its
northern border, towards Belize City. Overnight.
Day 14° Belize - Tulum - Cancún
Departure from Belize towards Tulum, back in Mexico, one of the most
spectacular archeological sites of the area, beacuse of its location on
a rock facing the Caribbean sea. At sunsetcontinue to Cancún. Overnight.
Day 15° Cancún - airport
Transfer to the airport and departure. |
